I decided to document this past year in hand-written form, using a plain old leather journal. Real talk for a moment, I could go on and on about how tough this year was, but fuck that. So before this year began I bought a journal. This was actually the only New Years resolution that I kept: to document every day of this year, but more so, to document the good of each day. The good moments that rise to the top in your memories. If I grew on that particular day, learned something new, did something fun, or just felt good in general, I wanted to make sure that that was what I remembered for that day in 2011. Sure, a few bad days came here and there, but they become trivial and petty in retrospect. I’ll probably end up continuing this daily journaling after I’m done with this year, just maybe not as frequently and not in hand-written form. But who knows…
It was a great year, actually. Blessed on many levels. Racks on racks on racks. After all’s said and done, I’d like to think that the good moments will always rise to the top. And that’s what I want to remember the most.
